It's Time For An Update!!

Dear readers, I sincerely apologize for my lack of posts.
Life is has been insane lately, but we're hanging in there.  Work is going well for both of us, but it's keeping us on our toes.
My Mom came to visit a few weeks ago.  We had a LOT of fun.  We made quilts and played lots of fun games.  We also ate at a yummy restaurant called Rumbi's.  It was super fun, and I was very sad to see her go.
This was at Rumbi's.  Don't you love the sunglasses?

This is one of the quilts my Mom made.  She did a great job!  It was so much fun to help out all together on it.

Not pictured was all the fun we had playing Telestrations, Balderdash and other awesome games.

I think that's about it for this update.  Nothing new is really going on.

I hope you all have a great week!

Love,

Courtney

Sorry Not Sorry

Okay, I am a little sorry about the rant that is about to explode on this blog.  You have been warned.

Remember the ice bucket challenge?  That produced some hilarious videos and also brought up some serious feels.  What about the blue versus gold dress controversy?  All fun times on the internet right?

Let me fill you in on the latest internet trend.  Wait, no.  Let me show you.  Click here to witness the phenomenon of the #don'tjudgemechallenge.  Go ahead.  I'll wait.

Yep.  They're all pretty much like that.  Don't get me wrong, I think they are hilarious.  But I have one teeny-tiny problem with them.  These videos promote the idea that you are only worthwhile if you are wearing makeup and expensive clothing.  That if you don't fit into the cookie cutter of societal beauty, you are less of a person.  That's just plain not true folks.

This person:

Is just as worthwhile as this person:

Wearing makeup and nice clothes isn't a bad thing at all.  I love doing it!  But, it isn't important, and it certainly doesn't determine your importance as an individual.

Phew...Sorry about that!  Just had to get that little tidbit off my chest.  Hope you're having a great day!

Love,

Courtney

Deli Moments...

**These are meant to be a reflection of ANY job working at a deli, not necessarily my particular employer.

1.  When people say sandwich slices, they could really mean anything.  It does NOT mean the same thing for everyone.  Also, when people get upset because you don't know what their definition of "normal" means.

2.  That awkward moment when someone asks you how fresh something is...  (Of course as a food worker, you always keep food within the standard time to prevent issues, but it's still awky to tell someone that the macaroni and cheese has been setting for about 2.5 hours.)

3.  Being burned.  By so many different things...  Fryer, oil, oven, rotisserie oven and hot case just to name a few.

4.  Trying to find that happy medium between scalding and ice cold dishwater.

5.  When customers think that being super rude will get them what they want.

6.  Dropping a utensil on the floor and having to go back and wash it while a customer is waiting.

7.  When you accidentally open a package of meat that already had one open.  (I have never done this...)

8.  Touching raw chicken.... **shudder**

9.  That amazing camaraderie that you form with your co-workers.

10.  When you have to do freight...

11.  Awesome customers that make your day.

12.  When you ask a customer if their meat is the correct thickness and they hesitate slightly.  And you're like...

13.  When you realize that all of the crappy stuff will be worth it after you get that paycheck.

Something To Think About...

Since I have had a LOT less free time, I've really missed blogging.  My thought has been, "I have been working so much that there really hasn't been time for writing." Or going outside, interacting with people and so on.  But is that really true?  I'm pretty sure that I've had time to watch a lot of Netflix and troll on Facebook, so what's the deal?  Then, I started thinking about this really cool YouTube video about this very subject.  (Ooops... That's just like watching TV...)

Whiiiiich led me to this little gem.

Which led me to this one and this one.  They are both a little too heavy and too rhyme-y.

Is it ironic that I learned about being present and using technology a little less through this same technology?  Yes...  But it doesn't change the message.

This really strengthens my commitment to be more present and involved in my life.

I so appreciate the people who read my blog and support me in it.  Blogging has changed my life and I'm sorry I've been so neglectful to writing my blog and reading/commenting on other's blogs.  Doing this helps me in so many ways. I promise to be more consistent and less sporadic. I really want to try and focus on the things that matter in life and not waste it watching TV.
Working has really thrown me off my groove.  I never realized how difficult having a part time job would be after all this time.  Thanks for being patient with me while I figure all this out.

Love,

Courtney

PS-Seriously, thanks for being so supportive.

Utah Trip

A few days ago, we took a quick trip to Utah to drop Jeremy off.  (If you want to read about Jeremy's part of the trip, you can check out his mission blog HERE.)

We were able to see a few sights before dropping him off.

Almost five years later.

Can't believe we have been married for almost five years!!

This was in the Conference center.

That lady in the red skirt was our tour guide.  She did such a great job telling us all the fascinating things about the art work.

I love this statue!  So cool.  It actually turns at the bottom.  If you turn it, you can see that Heavenly Father has his arm around Jesus.

The bust of President Monson.

This was taken from the roof of the Conference Center.  The Salt Lake Temple looks like a model!

The rooftop gardens.

One of my favorite places on Temple Square.

After we dropped Jeremy off, we had the opportunity to visit with one of Cameron's childhood friends.  He and Adam have been friends for about 18 years.

We got to meet Adam's wonderful wife for the first time.  We had a LOT of fun talking to them.

It was a very bittersweet trip.  We were able to send Jeremy on his mission.  It was great to see him go on a mission, but sad to see him leave.

My New Job

Sorry about just dropping a bomb like that without any information.  I basically just tacked it on to a post I had already written and went to bed.  I sincerely apologize, it was not my intention to seek attention or anything like that!
Anyway, my new job is.......
Working at the deli in Walmart!!!

I got the call for the interview about a week or so ago.  I was so nervous but just prayed for Heavenly Father's help.  Both of the people who interviewed with me just clicked with what I was saying.  It was such a blessing!  I know that my words were inspired and that this job would not have happened without divine intervention.  I am so grateful for this job.  It has been a LONG time coming.  I don't know what hours I will be working or anything like that yet.
Thanks so much for all of your prayers and encouragements.  It has made all the difference in the world.

Easter 2015 and An Important Bulletin

This year we were lucky enough to visit my grandparents in Nampa.  We had so much fun!!

Laura put together this really fun beauty night for us.  It was really cool.
First we put on these really sweet masks.  They tightened on your face and cause some pulsing.  It was really effective too!  My facial area felt very cleansed.

We all looked like the wicked witch of the west.

So attractive.

RAWR!

Grandma just wanted it on her nose.

We also put on these really cool lotion masks.  They felt amazing.

During the break of Sunday Conference, these adorable cousins helped me dye some eggs.

I got the recipe/idea for this video from this link here.  They are such cute kiddos and were such good sports about trying out my experiment.

Basically, you fill a pan with shaving cream and then put a bunch of food coloring drops in it.

Then you swirl the colors around and carefully put the eggs in the shaving cream mixture.  You sort of turn them around in the dye and then remove them from the pan.

Then you dab the shaving cream off.

And let them sit for about 10 minutes or so.

I love this way of making eggs much more than the other way.  The only drawback is that you can't eat them afterwards.

Grandma also helped me sew a lot of different things.  First, she helped me sew a slit up in a maxi skirt.  Then we sewed some pillowcases the burrito way (this is the BEST way to make them, so easy!).  I need to get the pictures from Cameron's phone but I will definitely post them here later.  They look so cute!  It was really fun to do some sewing.  Now I have the bug!

We also played Telestrations, which is a super fun game.  It's one of my new favorites.  It's basically just telephone and pictionary combined.  It is such a riot to play.

We had such a fun time this Easter.  It was great to see family that we haven't seen for a long time.  We loved spending time with everyone and didn't want to leave!

Love,

Courtney

PS-  I finally (FINALLY) got a job!!!

Life Update

I have several posts in the works, but they are on hold until I can get the pictures from off the phones.  So, I thought it would be fun to post a little update while we're waiting.
Cameron has finished his current semester and is looking forward to a nice break.  Work is going well and he is enjoying doing computer projects at home.  His goal is to organize the garage during spring break.
I recently acquired a sewing machine and have been doing lots of experimenting.  It's been super fun!!  My goal during spring break is to de-junkify the house.
And lastly, here are the pictures from my Skype call with my Mom and Lylah as a peace offering for my lack of posts the last few weeks.

Mom being her beautiful, yet goofy self.

See, beautiful and goofy.  It's possible people.

Lylah finally recognizes me on Skype!!  I love it!!

She was dancing to Sesame Street!  (So cute!!)

Sticking her tongue out at me, because she can.
\

Thanks for reading everyone!  I hope your week is going great!

Love,

Courtney

PS-In case you were wondering, Midnight's goal this spring break is to make friends with the orange cat we call Garfield that hangs out outside the bedroom window.  And also to eat all the treats.
